Now, that’s not to say we don’t use hands-on treatments because we absolutely do — massage, joint mobilisation, acupuncture and more – every day, but for the purpose of short-term benefits to facilitate your longer-term recovery.

But while treatment feels good, it’s not enough on its own to get you lasting results. It’s best used in small doses, not as the focus of your physio sessions.

Injuries Take TIME

Ironically, we don’t use time as the main guide for when you’re ready to move on to the next stage of rehab. Instead, we use clear, practical goals like:

  • When you can do 10 single-leg sit-to-stands, we’ll start your running plan.
  • When you’ve got full movement back in your shoulder, we’ll get you swinging a racket again.
  • When the strength between your limbs is less than 10% different, we’ll start your return-to-sport plan.

Recovery isn’t about waiting a set number of weeks — it’s about hitting the right milestones. Everyone’s different, and no two injuries are exactly the same. (So take your mate down the pub who said they were back in six weeks with a pinch of salt — chances are, their situation was completely different!)
