The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is located within the knee joint and provides stability during sport and strenuous activity. Commonly ACL injuries are the result of sports injuries, where a sudden pivoting movement of the knee, or sudden deceleration of the body puts excessive force through the tissue. Your ACL can also tear due to injury in other environments such as work or accidents.
It’s paramount that optimal care and attention is given to maximise recovery, reduce the risk of reinjury, and unlock your true performance potential.

Typical recovery time for an ACL injury is around 12-months, and reinjury can occur within 5 years in up to 20% of cases. At Worcester Physiotherapy, we believe it’s essential to get your recovery right the first time around, and reduce reinjury risk. Poor rehabilitation outcomes can produce up to a 33% chance of reinjury (Webster and Feller, 2019), but high quality rehab programmes can reduce that risk rate to 10% (Grindem et al, 2016). The exciting thing about our plan is that it exceeds the standards set to achieve that reduction in risk. It is designed to help you function at an optimal level, with minimal chance of reinjury occurring.
When it comes to ACL injuries we don’t believe in quick fixes. Our ACL Rehab & Performance Plan is only for those who want the BEST opportunity to recover to the highest level, and who are willing to commit to an intense rehabilitation plan. Our extensive experience of treating ACL injuries leads us to believe this will give you the best prospect of achieving the most beneficial outcomes.

EXCELLENT Based on 98 reviews Tara Barrington2024-12-16 Sam is an outstanding physiotherapist! He truly takes the time to listen to your concerns and understand your needs. Thank you Sam for getting me up and running again! 🙂 Paul Thatcher2024-11-08 When I approached Worcester Physiotherapy Clinic I had pulled my hamstring on a 10K and I was feeling sorry for myself. Chloe immediately identified the severity of my problem, designed some exercises to help my recovery and measured my improvement over the recovery period. What was brilliant for me as an older runner is she assessed the state of my overall leg strength and advised me of exercises to keep me injury free as I return to running. If you are an older runner or getting back into running I would recommend you book an appointment and whether you have an injury or not I would use Worcester Physiotherapy Clinic to help you stay injury free and enjoy your running. Graham Evans2024-10-29 I've been very satisfied with my treatment by Ryan for my ankle problems. The service has been fully in-line with what is said on the website: i.e. Transparent and honest with a thorough assessment before starting treatment and a focus on "fixing the problem, and not just making it feel better." Robert Jones2024-10-28 Ryan has been amazing throughout the whole process of getting me back to running. From diagnosing the problem, through creating and adapting a rehabilitation plan that worked for me, his knowledge and understanding of the issue has been great! He got me round my first marathon which when I first went to see him I didn’t think was going to happen. If you’ve got an injury get yourself booked in here you won’t regret it! Thanks again Ryan for the expertise and support! Tessa Meek2024-10-25 I made an appointment to see Ryan following a delibitating skiing injury and have received a long an intensive programme of rehabilitation focusing on my desire to return to running (and skiing) again, which at times was something I never though would be possible. I have seen many different physios during my sporting career, but Ryans approach to rehab "clicked" for me as it was based on demonstrating measurable improvements; his support and reassurance was invaluable and helped to keep me positive when I was feeling low and frustrated. Whilst it has taken a long time to recover, his treatment has enabled me to avoid surgery and I am now running again and will be skiing this season. dominic lavelle2024-10-25 Ryan and the team have been brilliant dealing with my neck injury. After a few sessions with Chloe, and following her advice, my knee pain when running has completely gone and I’m back to my normal weekly mileage. My legs are stronger and I have learned to incorporate gym work into my weekly training. Thanks a lot Chloe!
